Keith Lykins is an Ohio-based guitarist and educator known for blending classical guitar, flamenco guitar, acoustic percussive, and world music influences into performances that are both technically accomplished and deeply expressive. His innovative use of the 9-string drum guitar and percussive techniques creates a distinctive musical experience.
Keith Lykins is a Flamenco, Classical, Acoustic Percussive Guitarist as well as a consummate entertainer. His music encompasses aspects of traditional classical music, Spanish, Arabic and Americana influences. From cover songs to Flamenco, Classical, Blues, Irish Fiddle Tunes and Acoustic Percussive Guitar on the 6 string and 9 string Drum Guitar, his music shines its way through unexpected gulfs and valleys of emotion.
A Bachelor’s Degree in Classical Guitar Performance as well as advanced studies in composition, orchestration and ethnomusicology have provided the foundation which allows him to further his journey dedicated to the exploration of international music and to become a trail blazer in the world of guitar. Performing classical guitar, flamenco guitar, acoustic percussive guitar and the 9-string drum guitar, Keith creates a rich musical experiences that are both technically accomplished and deeply engaging.
Keith uses every inch of the guitar, creating exhilarating musical and visual pageantry. His music encompasses aspects of music from the lurid, intoxicating deltas of the American South to the sultry driving beats in the all-night coffee houses of Madrid. From the delicate harmonies of the Irish Coast to the intricate melodies of the arid Sudan, he performs music from around the globe to create remarkable entertainment experiences.
From concert series and festivals to library programs, school programs, educational events, workshops, private gatherings, special celebrations as well as more intimate venues, Keith works with organizers to create performances that complement the venue, audience, and occasion.
